Clearview High School (1997-2001)

Track and field
2001: Murphy won the Division III state championship for the 200-meter dash (22.80) and was second in the 100 meters (11.17) to teammate Danny Davis (11.15).
2001: Along with teammate Danny Davis, the two combined to help the Clearview boys to win the Division III state track team championship over Amanda-Clearcreek, 40-28. It remains the only state track and field team championship won by a Lorain County boys team since 1979 and overall is the fourth boys track state team title in school history.
2001: Murphy won the 100 (11.15) over Davis (11.21) to win the Orrville District plus also won the 200 (23.06). Murphy (11.18) was second to Davis (11.02) for the 100 at the Navarre Fairless Regional plus also won the 200 (22.55).
2000: Murphy captured Division III state title for the 100 meters (10.88) and was second at state for the 200 meters (22.47).
2000: Murphy captured both the 100 (11.0) and 200 (22.7) at the Independence District. He captured the Cuyahoga Heights Regional for the 100 (11.27) and was second in the 200 (22.73).
1999: Murphy won the Independence District for the 100 (11.1) and was third in the 200 (23.1). He was a Baldwin-Wallace Regional finalist for both events but didn’t place in the top four for either to qualify for state. Murphy won his 100-meter qualifying heat in 11.0 and was third in his 200 (22.9) qualifying round.
1998: Murphy was a Division III state qualifier as a member of the Clippers’ 4×100 along with Nate Sadler, Ron Brown and Aaron Stevenson.
1999-2001: Murphy was a six-time Lorain County Conference track champion. He was a three-time winner of the 100, twice captured the 200 (2000-01) and teamed with Jose Cabrera, Stephen Chiller and Bret Schuster to win the 4×100 in 1999.

Football
2000: As a running back his senior year, Murphy was Division V All-Ohio Special Mention, all-district first team and All-Lorain County first team

Other top honors
2001: Presented the J. Ed Uland Award by The Lorain Sports Hall of Fame Committee. The award recognizes a senior college-bound student who has excelled the most in athletics, academics and community service.
